Giovinella Gonthier brings diplomatic experience, business and training skills
to global companies. She has served in many countries and at the United Nations
in New York City as a representative of the Republic of Seychelles.
A spirited speaker, Ambassador Gonthier has made numerous presentations before
the U.N., universities and business organizations throughout Africa, Asia, Central
America, the Caribbean, Europe and the U.S.A. Ms. Gonthier is a published writer
whose new book is titled "Rude Awakenings: Overcoming the Civility Crisis
in the Workplace", Dearborn Trade Publishing, 2002. The book takes an organizational
development perspective and is very different from the business etiquette genre.
The book was released to rave reviews in USA Today and The Financial Times(London)
and written about in many newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune. Her award winning
book, "Rude Awakenings" was selected as Book of the Month by the Institute for Management
Studies (IMS) in July 2002.
Ambassador Gonthier, who was raised in East Africa and the Seychelles, has a
B.A. from Wheaton College in Massachusetts and an M.A. from Harvard University.
In May 1985, Ms. Gonthier was the recipient of an honorary doctorate (LLD) degree,
conferred by her alma mater, Wheaton College in Massachusetts for her record
in public life. She is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Swahili.
Dr. Gonthier presents keynote addresses and workshops for management conferences,
major trade associations and corporate clients all over the world. As an executive
coach, Dr. Gonthier specializes in helping leaders become more effective and
develop organizational cultures that nurture emotional intelligence.
She received the "Civvies Award 2003" from Americans for More Civility along with
President Carter and Secretary Powell.
